Two parallel and important challenges lay at the heart of this important project. The first was a need to modernize and make accessible the historically seen-as-stoic Federal Reserve Bank. The second was to provide a thorough space needs analysis to economize space requirements. Walsh Bishop provided programming and interior design for this office and banking facility, which includes lobbies, offices, public spaces, training areas, lounges, and dining facilities for 1,200 employees. Through development of new standards, creation of more efficient, comfortable workstations, and improved departmental adjacencies, space needs were reduced by 15 percent. Environments throughout the building were designed to reflect the stature and role of this institution in our society, but still be comfortable, accessible, and supportive of staff well-being. We continue to deliver ongoing interior design and facility management services for the bank.
